droppin' the ball

Ok, this isn't exactly what I had in mind when starting my blog. I thought I would have much more time to write about sports, and unfortunately my life has been taken over my the amount of school work and internship obligations I have to deal with. So, I - along with Chris Crane (we'll get to that in a moment) have been droppin' the ball. And I need to get this going because it matters to me.

So a few major things have happened since my last visit
1) THE CELTICS ARE WORLD CHAMPS!
Yes, my beloved Celtics won their 17th banner- I wasn't alive when they won their 16th, so I guess it has been a long time. We beat the Lakers and nothing could be sweeter. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to any games against the Lakers (my brothers went to Game 6 and didnt appreciate it as much as I would have! AND I offered them each $500 for their ticket - Cory would have given it to me if Walter hadn't talked him out of it. Ugh, I was upset for weeks.) I shouldn't complain though, I WAS able to go to three playoff games - two against the Cavs and one against the Pistons - which was on the ESPN Sportsdeck. PRETTY SWEEEEET!

2) TOM BRADY was injured! Absolutely unacceptable. Tom Brady was eliminated for the season in his first game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, I'm a huge Pats fan but can I throw it out there that I had a feeling before the season started that the Pats weren't going to be too good. I didn't know Brady would become injured but I really did think and still think that he lost his passion for the game. The man has won three Superbowl rings, an MVP award, two Superbowl MVP awards and was named Best Offensive player of the year last year. He is making millions in endorsements, is probably getting married to the hottest woman in the world (yes, I can admit she's smokin' even though I'm a chick) and he has a son that I'm pretty sure (at least I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's a good guy) he wants to be more involved with. His family, son and girlfriend live in L.A so when he went down and needed reconstructive ACL surgery, he opted to forgo the team docs and recover out there. Before this season started - he was untouchable. He was the best QB in the league by far and had it perfect. Now, I am a huge Brady fan because he works his ass off to get to where he is and doesn't have an ego about him, but I just don't think he wants it as badly because of all that he has accomplished. He has a job to do - he wasn't present all during preseason (yea, he was making sure he got better before the season started) AND when the team prefers you to have surgery with an established team doctor that is known for treating athletes, you do it here - you are a professional athlete, that is your job. Your job is to make sure that you get better. Now he has has three surgeries - more than he was supposed to have -because of infections. I'm not saying that it is because of the doctor over there and it wouldn't have happened here, but I don't care who you are - you do what you need to do and get the surgery done with a team doctor. That's all I have to say about that

3) And lastly, Matt Ryan has gone to the NFL and my precious Eagles are struggling. Yea, we won against NC State (huge game) and VT (another huge game) but we lost to UNC because Chris Crane couldn't do shit against their Defense, and the defense wasn't too good. He threw three interceptions today and our amazing defense (minus a few players - RIP Brian Toal) couldn't stop the force that was Sexton and more importantly Hakeem Nicks (#88). He was unstoppable but our defense had done everything they could, I thought, when UNC got the ball at the 50 yard line or in our territory almost every play. Although we beat Virgina Tech last week, Crane also threw three interceptions - but he also was able to make some plays. He did nothing today. Our offense kicked a FG and scored a touchdown - our defense had the other TD. All I know is that with the Pats sucking (I have become a Atlanta Falcons fan due to my love for Matt Ryan) and the Sox out of the playoffs (not really surprised with Manny gone) I need BC football to do well. I saw we bring in the RS freshman and get him some experience. Crane is done in 4 or 5 games anyway - lets get the new guy some time. My goal for this season is to get to a bowl game and win it, to keep our longest winning bowl streak alive (the one thing that sets us apart from big time schools)
